Where's the bass??

There's no bass! Where did it go! It needs a syncopated bass line!!

DJMatti responds:

Ops I must have forgotten to put it eh? xD

Very Reasoneresque

Right from the start I thought of "A Walk down the Trail" Just liek from that toyota commercial, lol. Very Clean, high-quality sound. I was thinking before I clicked it "Uh oh... is Reasoner doing Hip Hop now?? :S" But I'm GLAD to hear it's not. lol

Supreme as always.

Spooky! :D

I like it! I do hear a lot of clipping in the "wolf howls" background synth however. Is there any way you could clean that up? The intro voices are also pretty cheesy, lol, I find it lightens the mood/ Perhaps some vocoding or distortion on the voice would help? Keep the reverb on it for sure!

l-l-u-m-a-n-s responds:

I REALLY tried to stop the clipping . The wolf howling part is a lost cause . I couldn't get rid of the clipping, and until someone who is REALLY good at that stuff PM's me . I won't be able to ever find a way . I only been making music for 6 months . If I wanted to .. I could just say those aren't clips, and just cymbals at 5-6 octave . XDDDDDDDDD

Also, no ...
The intro voices are fine the way they are . I love the surreal insanity it brings, then breaks into Britney Spears, Lil Kid madness . ^_^ . Thanks for listening =D .

Niice!

I just felt like it could have used a sort of breakbeat drum line to help keep the flow. But the synths are mixed very well. Good luck in the contest!!

EnigmaticWolf responds:

I agree with your assessment.

Thank you for your honest opinion and for listening to this song.

Very nice!

Crispy sounds, suspensful bells, well balanced, Just wish it had a couple bass drops, but thats jsut me. Congrats, and good luck in the Halloween2010 contest! :D

death-is-forever responds:

Thanks man, I appreciate the review. :) Glad you liked it.

and yeah... bass drops would have been nice, why didn't I think of that? haha

Amen!

If I could be a critic, I would recommend you find a mastering software, you can get some open source ones if you google it. Also, If you could export at a higher bit rate, I think that would greatly improve overall quality. I'm using some pretty high end headphones, and it's quite noticeable.

Keep it up! :D

Well done.

You certainly have a feeling for the music. That comes out strong in the melody and general flow.

I find the build and layering of instruments beneficial, yet also hindering the listener from absorbing all the goodness at once. In other words, it does feel a tad overcrowded from time to time. Not so much that it hurts the song quality, but just the overall enjoyability of the listener, as they may need a second listen through to pick up on all the details.

The faded ending with the sound gate was perfect. And the arping melody is neither harsh or seemingly repetitive due to the simple lead layered over top.

The instrument selection is very light, which took my mind off of trance mode to be truthful, and into ambient, but was brought back by the more super saw like synth that begins at 1:47.

I appreciate the work that you clearly put into this, and I hope the other listeners truly "listen" before voting or reviewing. While it may not be the standard sound for trance I or others may be accustomed to, it IS entrancing.

Reminds me of a fairytale forest, or city in the trees.

Some things I would love to hear from you in the future, is a quicker tempo, a syncopated bass, and you could add in a harder sample to contrast with sweeping melodies and choirs. This is of course if you continue to stick in this genre. I know your next trance song would be a huge success in my books, but perhaps your main strnegths lie in another genre. I honestly have not lsitened to any of your works before, and perhaps am coming to conclusions too quickly.

I will browse your other music selections when I get an opportunity.

Keep doing what your doing, and I would highly recommend you get in contact with a record company if you haven't already done so. I believe you've got what it takes here!

Its good to know that my music makes other people think and
that they can feel the emotion and melody in my music... Thank
u for ur time Catstuffer!

yo tis amaz, but...

I think your lead synth is eprfect for this, but the other sounds, could use some EQing and added effects. Sounds mostly like default FL studio sounds, and perhaps a little tempo increase?! :D

But I really liked it!

I like it,

So far, it;s good, but unless this is going to be a quite lengthy song, the looping melody synth piano is rath repetitive. I like the percussion, but I feel its really missing a syncopated bass! Keep working on this, and u'll get your 10.

lackofintelligence responds:

ill extend it reeeaaal good ;D and ill make sure to use some bass too! :)
